Spencer Morgan

For more than 17 years, Cycle Circle has been at the heart of Ashford’s cycling community, helping people of all ages discover the joy and freedom of cycling.

Founded and led by Spencer Morgan, the organisation’s mission is to make cycling accessible, safe, and enjoyable for everyone.

Cycle Circle delivers the current Bikeability training across Kent; the national cycle proficiency scheme that teaches essential road safety and cycling skills.

Working closely with local schools, the team trains Year five and six pupils to ride confidently and safely on the roads.

To reach even younger riders, Cycle Circle developed Cycle Ready, a fun and engaging programme for children aged four to six that introduces balance, coordination, and early cycling confidence.

Cycle Circle’s team is made up entirely of active cyclists, their enthusiasm is integral to the success of the programmes here in Kent. Classes are intentionally kept small, sometimes with as few as two pupils, allowing instructors to focus on individual needs and ensure every child fully understands the skills being taught.

Spencer said: “We want children to see cycling as something positive from an early age as a way to travel, explore, and stay healthy. By teaching good habits now, we’re helping to build a generation that chooses the bike over the car. Campaigns like Cycle Ashford are a great way to keep that enthusiasm growing and remind the community just how much cycling has to offer.”

Beyond schools, Cycle Circle runs community bike-fixing workshops and instructor led rides, helping local residents feel more confident about maintaining their bikes and discovering safe, scenic routes away from busy roads. The team also operates a bike recycling initiative, refurbishing unused bikes and reselling them at affordable prices. Bike donors receive discounts on future purchases, ensuring a cycle of reuse and sustainability that supports local families. Regular bike sale events are held once per school term, offering quality refurbished bikes for all ages.

Cycle Circle has upcoming bike maintenance workshops and more affordable refurbished bicycle sale events planned for early next year. Spencer and his team are continuing to build strong partnerships with local councils and businesses to ensure cycling remains a key part of Ashford’s future transport and wellbeing strategy.
